Privacy policy

Last updated: 12 August 2026

The short version

The safety check runs in your browser and we don’t see your answers unless you choose to submit the contact form. If you do submit it, we pass your details to a home improvement referral network so contractors can contact you — that’s the point of the form, and it’s how we’re paid. We don’t sell your information to anyone else.

What we collect

Information you give us

If you complete the contact form, we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, the type of work you’re interested in, and your timeframe. We also record the risk band and recommendations your safety check produced, so the contractors contacting you know what you actually asked about.

Your safety check answers

Your answers are held in your browser’s session storage while you work through the check, and the scoring and cost calculations happen on your device. They are not sent to us unless you submit the contact form. Closing the tab discards them.

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site — pages viewed, how far through the safety check people get, general location at city level, device and browser type. Google sets cookies to do this. We don’t use analytics data to identify individuals, and we don’t run advertising or retargeting pixels.

How we use it

  • To connect you with contractors, when you ask us to.
  • To produce your safety check results and cost estimates.
  • To understand which parts of the site work and which don't, so we can improve them.
  • To meet legal obligations and keep records of consent.

Who we share it with

When you submit the contact form and give consent, we pass your details to one home improvement referral network. That network matches you with contractors in your area and shares your details with them so they can respond. Those contractors are independent businesses — they are not us, we do not employ them, and we do not control what they do with your information once they have it. Their own privacy policies apply.

We also use Google Analytics as described above. Beyond that, we share personal information only where the law requires it.

We do not sell your information in the everyday sense of the word. Note that some state privacy laws define “sale” broadly enough to include the referral arrangement described above, which is why we describe it plainly rather than relying on the label.

Calls and texts

The consent checkbox on the contact form is what permits the referral network and its contractors to contact you at the number you gave — including by automated dialing system, prerecorded message, or text. Consent is never a condition of using this site or of buying anything.

You can withdraw it at any time. Ask any caller to put you on their do-not-call list, reply STOP to texts, or email us and we will pass the request on. Once your details have reached a contractor, we can ask them to stop but we cannot compel them — the fastest route is telling them directly.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, opt out of its sale or sharing, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and a growing number of other states provide rights along these lines.

To make a request, email hello@clearpathhomesafety.com. We may need to verify your identity first. We’ll respond within the timeframe your state’s law requires.

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s browser opt-out add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser. The site works fine either way.

How long we keep it

We keep lead submissions and consent records for as long as needed to run the service and to evidence consent if it’s ever questioned, and then delete them. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ own retention settings.

Children

This site is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Security

Information is transmitted over an encrypted connection. We keep the amount of personal data we hold deliberately small — the site has no user accounts and no customer database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes to what we collect or who we share it with will be described here rather than made quietly.
